T
he rules on gas safety systems have been tightened up considerably in recent years with the introduction of
Building Bulletin 101 on ‘ventilation and indoor air quality in schools’ and BB100 on ‘designing and managing against the risk of fire in schools’. It means you need different systems to solve
different problems, but not with Intelligas. The gas safety and control systems specialist has developed a range of products flexible enough to tackle the requirements of these regulations, while giving installers the chance to standardise one make of unit throughout a building project. Intelligas has tackled BB101 with its mu-
lti-services controller MSC101, which can monitor CO2
ventilation fans to ensure CO2
levels and control, for example, levels don’t go
too high. “You can combine that with our EGI
systems to cover everything a gas safety system needs,” says Andrew Dickenson, managing director of Intelligas. “Because all these systems are based on modern micro-processor technology, they can be reprogrammed and updated to cover future needs. That level of
flexibility is vital in a changing world. “It makes life an awful lot easier for
installers if they don’t have to install equipment from several different makers. We’ve made sure we cover all the possibilities and provide modern equipment that works together to offer an all-round safety solution.” Intelligas systems are designed and built in
Britain, which means parts supply is fast and reliable and the systems are built using modern but well tested and proven components. “We started the company because we realised that the products available were using old-technology,” he says. “With modern circuitry it’s possible to produce something much more reliable and flexible.” That reliability could be a life saver:
“Very often these systems are installed and forgotten,” he says. “Never forget that they are there for a very serious purpose indeed. Our systems are competitively priced, but we do stress that it’s not just about getting the cheapest thing you can fit. You’ll want it to work and do its job, of course, but with Intelligas you also get the peace of mind that it will go on working in an ever-changing environment for many years to come.”
