The inadequacy of many entrance flooring systems installed around the UK is most clearly exposed during the winter time. Forbo’s RIBA certified CPD seminar “Entrance matting aystems: complete solutions to maximise performance and minimise risk” is designed to help specifiers to deliver well designed, fully integrated entrance flooring that will keep interiors clean, dry and safe in all weather conditions, thereby prolonging the life of floor coverings and finishes, reducing maintenance and cleaning costs and contributing to pedestrian safety.

Forbo offers attractive, long-lasting and highly effective primary and secondary entrance flooring solutions for every type of commercial and public building. The company’s made-to-order Nuway Tuftiguard rigid engineered barrier matting and Coral textile ‘wipe off ’ ranges can be installed solus or in combination as integrated colour co-ordinated systems.

Forbo’s CPD seminar covers applicable Building Standards, guidelines for product selection, environmental and safety matters and inspirational case studies. It also includes sustainability issues as Nuway and Coral are the only entrance flooring systems to have BRE certification after undergoing stringent assessment to measure their environmental impact at every stage in their life cycles.

T-T Pumps recently supplied a multistage booster set (Hidroboost) to a local cattle market for their wash down requirements of the market and vehicles. The Cheshire based company supplied Chris Evans Farm Services with a dual vertical multistage stainless steel pump system, for the Barbers Cattle Market in Shropshire. The washdown set (Hidroboost) features cost effective intelligent variable speed drives which optimise system efficiency with a duty/assist configu-

ration to cater for the varied demand of the market. After reviewing the original systems’ location within a 4 metre deep chamber, we designed the booster set to be surface mounted for ease of access and service/maintenance. The cattle market is very pleased with T-T’s multistage pumps and the overall T-T experience.

163 GUILDHALL ROOF GOES SOLVENT FREE WITH 2K-PUR

The City of London has specified Kemper System’s Kemperol 2K-PUR solvent-free, wet-on-wet water- proofing system for the refurbishment of the historic Guildhall’s west wing. CRC Group Ltd has been awarded the contract to complete the roof refurbish- ment in a ten week programme that will see the company install the Kemperol 2K-PUR membrane onto the existing roof substrate, explains Steve Webb from Concept: “One of the key advantages of the

Kemperol waterproofing system is that it can be overlaid onto almost any substrate, which dramatically reduces the amount of preparatory work involved and therefore minimises the time required on site.” t 01925 445532 www.kempersystem.co.uk

165 SEPARATOR SUPREMACY

The latest range of ACOQ-Ceptor bypass oil separa- tors includes a number of new features that focus on cutting installation time and costs. Versatile inlet and outlet manifolds will now allow contractors to make quick connections without the need for any additional expensive coupling units. “Bypass separators have a wide range of applications across both new build and refurbishment projects. Installers will therefore benefit from them being as adaptable as possible to different

pipe work, sizes and materials on site,” says Rob King, product manager at ACO Water Management. “The enhancements we’ve introduced mean that for the vast majority of situations installation can be completed without the need to use any additional components – a significant time and cost saving.”

167 DESCEAL FACES THE MEDIA AT OLYMPIC PARK

Stirling Lloyd’s Decseal® waterproofing and wearing course system has been used to provide waterproofing protection on a new multi-storey car park at the Olympic Park in London. The 1,200 capacity car park will serve both the International Broadcast Centre and the Main Press Centre buildings at next summer’s Olympic Games. Manufactured and marketed by Stirling Lloyd Polychem Ltd, some 12,500m² of Decseal was applied to the decks of the multi-storey

by Stirling Lloyd Construction. This high performance, liquid applied system is based on advanced Methyl Methacrylate resins and protects structures from water and chloride penetration that cause corrosion while providing a slip resistant finish. t 01565 633111 www.stirlinglloyd.com

166 PORTAKABIN TELLS ORGANISATIONS TO BE PREPARED

With winter now upon us, Portakabin is urging organisations to make sure they are fully prepared to help avoid the disastrous effect of burst pipes that so many suffered after the last big freeze. Advice includes: make sure heating is on a constant setting; ensure water pipes in unheated areas are well insulated; have a detailed plan in place so that should a building sud- denly become unusable, operations can be up and running again as quickly as possible; consider solu-

tions for temporary power supplies, furniture, data communications and security. Should a building become unusable, for example after flooding or other urgent sit- uations such as fire, power failures or the discovery of asbestos, Portakabin can assist with a number of options.

168 T-T’S NEW SERVICE AND REPAIR CENTRE

T-T Pumps have invested in a brand new service and repair centre at their head office in Cheshire, which is fully equipped to facilitate all makes and types of pumping equipment.

The workshop is complete with a 3 tonne lifting and full test facilities, and is segregated away from their clean water amenities.

Conscious to minimise the impact of its business on the environment T-T has intro- duced a Raincycle system, as part of its new service centre developments, to recycle water for wash-down and flushing facilities.
