The Bannatyne Club facsimile of the original 1590 poem, one of only a few copies printed on vellum. With the bookplates of J.L. Weir and Ruari McLean, and a neat pencil presentation note “Ruari from John Brownrigg Sept 1974”.
The Bannatyne Club was founded in 1823 by Sir Walter Scott for the purpose of publishing unprinted or out-of-print works relating to the history and literature of Scotland. This handsomely printed volume reprints Andrew Melville’s famous Latin poem written to celebrate the marriage of King James VI of Scotland.
