333. WESTERHAM PRESS. KRAHL, Regina. The Anthony de Rothschild Collection of Chinese Ceramics. The Eranda Foundation. 1996.

£750

Folio. 2 vols.; original beige cloth, lettered in dark blue; 323 illustrations in full colour tipped in; a fine copy in the slipcase.

First edition. Limited edition of 750 copies, printed at the Westerham Press by Rowley Atterbury by letterpress on specially mould-made, acid free paper. The Anthony de Rothschild collection contains a select group of Chinese ceramics from the Han (206 BC to 220 AD) to the Quing dynasty (1644 to 1911). It was mainly formed during the first three decades of this century and is one of the rare collections from this period that is still intact. It contains probably the world’s finest and most comprehensive group of polychrome glazed (‘fahua’) ceramics of the Ming dynasty (1368 to 1644), is strong in related ceramics such as sancai (‘three colour’) glazed pottery of the Tang (618 to 907) and biscuit-glazed porcelains from the Kangxi reign (1662 to 1722) of the Quing dynasty, as well as the equally colourful Jun wares from the Song dynasty (960 to 1279) and later. The catalogue is produced to the highest standards. All objects are illustrated in colour and fully described and documented.
