Biological and physiological factors 1) Immune mediation

2) Hormonal factors

3) Inhibition of tumour growth by growth factors and/or cytokines

4) Differentiation of tumour cells into normal tissue

5) Elimination of carcinogens

6) Angiogenesis (new blood-vessel development)

7) Tumour necrosis (the tumour died) 8) Programmed cell death (apoptosis) 9) Genetic factors

Psychological and spiritual factors 1) The placebo effect 2) Hypnosis and trance 3) Altered states ( prayer, meditation) 4) Miraculous healings (eg Lourdes) 5) Group support

However, looking at these factors doesn’t begin to explain what makes them work. Nor do they always have the same effect for everyone. It’s just like when a doctor performs perfect surgery on different people with the same problem, he cannot guarantee that successful healing will occur for each person. Some other factors must be involved. What is exciting is that further study on spontaneous remissions done by IONS, revealed that the 1574 people they studied had all made the same 8 mental and emotional changes too.

Finding meaning in the experience of cancer, and finding reasons to live and accepting the diagnosis, but not the prognosis, of cancer and believing in a positive outcome.

What’s exciting is that these factors are all available to everyone and easy to achieve on an individual basis. NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) can help anyone make these changes effectively. NLP can resolve the mental and emotional aspects of dis-ease which may be the most important factors of healing. Instead of going into shock after a diagnosis, turn the experience into a healing opportunity. Instead of trying to get rid of symptoms as fast as possible, listen to the messages from the body.
