Talking about learning a language, a few years ago we booked a holiday to Spain and what should come through our door with The Mail on Sunday ? Learn to Speak Spanish in a week. A course of 7 CDs. Well, I was doing a lot of driving at the time, so looking like an idiot, talking to myself in the car, for Eight weeks, yes 8 weeks, not one, I should have been fluent. So off we trot to Malaga, full of confidence and looking forward to communicating with the locals. The first night is Carnival night and a great opportunity to impress the wife with my new language skills. So with my best Spanish accent I order a white wine for the Mrs, and a beer for myself. What does the waiter bring to our table ???? Two dry sherry’s and a sprite !
