Pre-Prep Activitie
Saturday Morning Jewellery Workshop
Children came into School on Saturday 24th January to join in with the Jewellery Workshop.
Miss Tang and Mrs Clifton had a busy time making some bracelets and necklaces with some lucky Year 1 children.
The girls made some pretty bracelets and necklaces using beads and sequins in all shapes and sizes. The boys joined in too, making their own ‘bling’.
The children had such a lot of fun and afterwards proudly wore their jewellery to go home.
Cutting the Mustard!
Major Mustard came to visit Year 1 on Wednesday 28th January. The day began with a puppet show given by him, which was great fun and meant the children were able to see the types of puppets they might be making.
After break the fun began in earnest! The Upper School Hall was taken over for the day, as Year 1 made their own puppets from materials they had been collecting for weeks. There were mountains of egg boxes, cardboard tubes and masses of beads, buttons and trimmings! Several mums came in to help and it was questionable who had the most fun – them or the children!
By lunchtime everyone had made their own puppet and was looking forward to the afternoon session, when they would learn how to use the puppets to create plays.
French Breakfast
The warming ovens of the Pre-Prep kitchen were pressed into service once again, as Mme Le Saint presented yet another of her wonderful ‘French Breakfast’ mornings on Saturday 24th January.
The lucky visitors this time were Year 2 children and parents, who rose to the challenge of eating warm croissants, pains au chocolat, brioche and yummy chocolat chaud. Parents and staff also enjoyed authentic French coffee as the filter machine from the staff room was put into overdrive.
Pre Prep Founder’s Day
The Pre-Prep children celebrated Founder’s Day with a selection of activities that included making a peg doll, a Victorian spinner toy, a sugar mouse and writing with a pen and ink pot. They also joined in the Upper School assembly for the first time, learning about the past founders and Headmasters of Hallfield.
