Fe Fo Fi Fum

On Thursday 12th February, Year 3 performed ‘Jack and The Beanstalk’ to the whole school and then to their parents later that day. What a success it was!

The children transported you to a farmyard where Jack’s mother (played by Anika Wouhra) was unhappy with Jack (Daniel Black) for selling Daisy, their cow, for a bean. You would not want to be one of the animals getting in the way of Jack’s mother wielding the vacuum cleaner! The children sang a beautiful lullaby to help Jack sleep through the night as the beanstalk grew and grew! The Giant at the top of the beanstalk, acted by Arjun Sharma, was very scary! The youngest members of Hallfield in the audience hid away when he came down the aisle for the fear of being his next supper.

There were songs sung to help tell the story, which Mr Alexander had prepared for the children and the quality of singing was excellent.

A Victorian Christmas

The story of Orph, the little chimney sweep, who was saved from poverty by the benevolent Major Clive Armstrong and his delightful family, is true Victorian melodrama and guaranteed to tug at the heart-strings.

Add to that the delightful singing and dancing from the children in Year 2, the confident solos and acting, and the very authentic costumes, and you have a wonderful Christmas performance and not a dry eye in the house. Well done to all the pupils and their teachers – and to mums and dads at home who helped with costumes and line learning!

Ship Ahoy!

On Thursday March 26th, a pirate galleon sailed into the Upper School Hall with a crew of swash-buckling Year 1 pirates aboard! They told the story of ‘Blackbeard The Pirate Captain’ and his cleaning fanatic, diamond-loving wife Molly and their adventures on the high seas.

The pirates were in fine voice that day, having learned all the songs during their music lessons with Miss Pickford. Some of them managed to learn a lot of lines too – so there were a lot of proud pirate parents in the audience!
