Staff Christmas Panto
Christmas at Hallfield would not be the same for the children without the Staff Panto. This year the Panto ‘Peter Pan’ was written by Mr Tobin and performed by staff from the Upper School.
It is always fun for the children to see their teachers putting on the wigs and the greasepaint and strutting about the stage rather than the classroom!
This year Peter (Miss Wilson) took on the evil Captain Hook (Mr Alexander) and henchmen (both Matrons and Mr Florance), with the aid of the Lost Boys (Miss Smith and Miss Cochrane), Big Chief Crummy Jokes (Mr Goldman) and Tiger Lily (Mrs Hims).
Further mischief was provided by Tinkerbell (Mr Tobin), Nana the dog (Mrs Thorburn), the ever hungry crocodile (Mr Padden), Thwackum the Demon Headmaster (Mr Shackleton), Wendy (Miss Lynskey) John and Michael (Mr Wilkinson and Mr Walker).
This production is the most ambitious by far, as it is a musical including four songs, and sound effects that were provided by Miss Pickford from Pre-Prep.
Further assistance was provided by Mrs Culek, in the form of props and back drops and Miss Kingston and Mrs Cotteril who were in charge of Mr Tobin’s wardrobe!
Last, but by no means least, Mrs Miles played Magnus Magnusson and the key role of narrator.
The Foundation and Reception Nativity
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as the Foundation and Reception children performed their Nativity.
Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, wise men, cattle, and angels gave a perfect backdrop for the narrators to tell the story of Jesus’ birth.
The children sang with great gusto, accompanied by percussionists, and Miss Pickford on piano.
The children would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Chamberlain for all the wonderful costumes, which set the scene and for a brief few moments transported us back to Bethlehem.
