WHAT TO DO
New exhibits are opening at The Franklin
Institute in spring of 2010. “Changing
Earth” will examine the interconnected-
ness of water, air and land. Utilizing new
and emerging scientific understanding,
the exhibit will feature a new Weather
Center, as well as immersive sensory
experiences of planet’s changes - where
visitors can explore the power of earth-
quakes, volcanoes and hurricanes.
Meanwhile, the new Electricity Hall expe-
rience will allow visitors to explore the
museum’s complex relationship with this
most elemental force and reflect on how
that relationship needs to change if we
are to ensure a prosperous future.

Another new special exhibition at the
Franklin Institute, “Gunther von Hagens’
Body Worlds 2 and The Brain,” is on view
now through mid-February as part of a
limited 18-week engagement. Body
Worlds is the original and acclaimed exhi-
bition of real human bodies that have
been preserved through a process called
plastination. The exhibit focuses on brain
development and function; brain disease
and disorders; and brain performance
and improvement.
