and attention to detail, while at the same
time offering upscale facilities and a vari-
ety of amenities.
“The Pennsylvania Dutch and Amish cul-
tures have long attracted groups to
Lancaster County who want to experience
the food, way of life and beautiful country-
side,” said Bonetis. “The town of Lancaster
is home to many galleries, theaters, restau-
rants and attractions that are just minutes
away from the inn.”
In Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, meetings at
the Phoenixville Foundry will mix with the
rich history that’s abundant throughout the
property. Once part of the Phoenix Iron
and Steel Company complex that was con-
structed in 1882, this Richardson-
Romanesque-style building is listed on the
National Register of Historic Places.
It features 60-foot high ceilings and a
unique band of clerestory windows,which
divide the double-tiered slate roof. Using
truss work from Phoenix Iron and Steel
Company’s bridge-making operation to
support the roof, the Foundry was architec-
turally ahead of its time.
The building’s interior retains the stacks
that were part of the building’s furnaces,as
well as one of three wooden jib cranes that
occupied the space (now restored in its
original position). Also on the property -
over the French Creek - sits a small truss
bridge, a sample bridge constructed by
Phoenix Iron and Steel.
Phoenixville Foundry had been vacant
and neglected for several years, but its exte-
rior has since been meticulously restored
by the Phoenixville Area Economic
Development Corporation under the guid-
ance of the National Parks Service.
“While the Foundry’s exterior has been
restored, the interior has been renovated to
provide contemporary meeting and event
space with all modern amenities,”said Bob
Tomasso, facility and events director for the
Phoenixville Foundry.
With state-of-the-art audio-visual connec-
tions and high-speed Internet access, the
Foundry is also a certified“virtual meeting”
venue. The virtual meeting capability
allows every attendee to participate in the
meeting - whether or not they’re in the
same location. Video web streaming can
