Watlow: Accurate Thermocouple Wire

St. Louis, MO — Watlow, a thermal systems specialist, offers “N” Type thermocouple wire, which provides superior repeatability and resistance to oxidation than “K” Type wire at high temperatures of 1500°F and above (815°C) or in applications where sulfur is present. Watlow’s Type N thermocouple

wire meets special limits of error from 200 to 2000°F (93 to 1093°C). This nickel-based thermocouple alloy is used in many high temperature heat treating applications, including specialty aerospace heat treating. It offers the same accuracy and temper- ature limits as Type K, but has improved repeatability between 700 and 1100°F (370 and 593°C). According to the company, mul-

tiple tests have shown that Type N thermocouple wire offers improved performance and increased thermo- electric stability due to decreased effects of oxidation at higher temper- atures. In addition to industry findings,

the company recently tested Type N alloy in its ISO 17025 certified cali- bration lab to verify the special limits

Thermocouple wire. Type N wire is twice as accurate at

special limits from 400 to 2000°F. Contact: Watlow, 12001

Screwless PI-Spring Terminal Blocks From ABB

We can provide what you need.

New Berlin, WI — The new screwless SNK Series PI-Spring Terminal Block from ABB Low Voltage Products division uses a patented spring design that enables the installer to lock a screwdriver onto a terminal connected to unprepared flexible conductors. This innovation frees the installer’s hands to manipu- late wires and hold circuit drawings. SNK Series PI-Spring Terminal

Blocks combine push-in and spring technologies for efficient connections to solid and stranded wires, either with or without ferrules. According to the company, the

new PI-Spring enhances its existing SNK series screw- clamp range and applies the best of 50 years of experience to one easy-to-connect, high- quality product, with common accessories. These terminal blocks are designed for medi- um and heavy industrial applications, including mar - ine and hazardous locations, as well as solar power and commercial building applica- tions. The SNK Series PI- Spring Terminal Blocks have self- guiding wire entries that enable direct, one-step, push-in insertions with solid wires and stranded wires with ferrules that are 50 percent faster than terminal blocks with screw clamps. PI-Spring Terminal Blocks also enable stranded wire to be inserted with a screwdriver to open the spring clamp. Reducing con- nection time for push-in mode and eliminating the need to prepare stranded wires for spring mode make installation quick and easy for both methods. Another advantage is the reduc-

tion of inventory by up to 50 percent, as the product eliminates the need to stock a separate line for solid and fer- ruled stranded wires, and another

separate line for unprepared strand- ed wires. In addition, SNK Series PI- Spring and Screw terminal blocks share the same jumpers, markers and accessories, while all end section and circuit separators fit multiple types and sizes of blocks. The wire entry angle of the SNK

Series PI-Spring Terminal Blocks is designed to minimize the height of the wires, while maintaining a gen- erous bend radius, which increases the integrity of the connection and decreases the space that the wires occupy for a narrower wireway in the enclosure.

of error are met, and the calibration results show that the company’s

Time-saving terminal blocks. The asymmetrical design of the

SNK Series PI-Spring Terminal Blocks provides an immediate visual check to ensure against terminal block reversal, which reduces the chance of mounting and wiring errors. Circuit identification is also improved with a 20-percent enlarge- ment of the marking area. The 30° angle of the wire entry on the termi- nal block’s profile provides up to a 15 percent increase in rail and cabinet space, while allowing a generous bend radius. The flat marking sur- face enables pre-marking by hand

before final marker installation. Contact: ABB, Inc. 1250 Brown
