ACF Pulse Heat Bonder
West Caldwell, NJ — The PCB As- sembly Equipment division of Fan- cort Industries is introducing its newest hot bar bonding machine for pulse heat bonding and soldering of fine pitch flex circuits to rigid assem- blies. This new machine is designed to use anisotropic conductive film (ACF) for prebonding prior to final bonding of solder paste and reflow which can eliminate bridging. The new ACF bonder has pre-

cise and consistent temperature con- trol, required for each application. The special pulsed heat thermode of- fers a uniform distribution of heat with rapid heat-up and cool-down. Flexible programmable temperature profiles are created for targeted idle, pre-bond, preheat and bond cycles. Pressure is also digitally controlled with a floating thermode to ensure consistent pressure along the bond- ing surface. The maximum thermode bonding area is 400mm2, with a max- imum length of 100mm. Force range is 30N at 0.09Mpa to 600N at 0.6Mpa and temperatures from 0 to 500°C. Using ACF is a two-step process whereby the film which is fed from a reel, is first bonded to the rigid as- sembly and then the flex is posi- tioned over the film for the final
bonding cycle. The bonder has a manual linear

alignment. The operator loads the work onto the fixture and manually slides the table under the thermode
work area. Contact: Fancort Industries,
