SolderStar Introduces New Oven Profiling Platform

Rochdale, Lancashire, UK — The smaller and more complex designs of PCB make the use of reflow oven pro- filing ever more important. Profiling specialist SolderStar Ltd, has devel- oped the DeltaProbe, a new add-on technology that reportedly ensures a quality product. DeltaProbe is a dedicated plat-

form that helps to reduce rework costs and minimizes early field fail- ure. It offers a number of benefits: statistical process control (SPC) gathering is easy and offers a more accurate measurement. The matched sensors of the DeltaProbe show any

performance problems across the width of the oven heater. There are

ical zones. A number of errors can be detected easily including speed, con- veyor and recipe loading and editing errors. All these benefits help to give a true picture of the process and re- sult in a quality product. The DeltaProbe platform can be

independent limit settings per oven zone which gives more control in crit-

used once a temperature profile is cap- tured from a real test PCB. The ongo- ing process monitoring will then be achieved by measuring the difference from an established process baseline. Periodically the DeltaProbe is

passed through the process to allow rapid checks against the baseline pro- file and SPC data to be captured.

Process change due to variations in in- correct oven profile loading, convection levels, conveyor speed or zone set points, will be instantly and accurately detected through the platform and the operator is notified visually through the PC analysis software, making the findings easy to follow. The advanced SPC tools create charts for ongoing process control measurement, evalua-

tion and corrective action. Contact: Solderstar Ltd, Unit 1,

AccuAssembly and VJE Offer Component Reel Counting Technology

Littleton, MA — VJ Electronix, Inc., has teamed with AccuAssembly, Inc. to create the new XQuik with Accu- Count Technology. The system com- bines VJ Electronix’ X-ray imaging with AccuAssembly’s image process- ing and inventory management to provide a highly accurate count of components stored in tape-and-reel. The system automatically completes the count of components as small as 01005 with better than 99 percent accuracy. The process takes only sec- onds, compared to many minutes re- quired by typical counting processes.

Technology is a benchtop X-ray sys- tem with a footprint of only 26 x 24- in. (66 x 62cm). Operation is as sim- ple as placing the reel into the cabi- net, closing the door, and clicking the count icon. Barcode reading, auto- matic label printing and MES system interface options are available. The new system is described as

an excellent way to save time and im- prove inventory accuracy. Since it is a fully functional X-ray system with image storage, analysis and meas- urement tools, it also can be used for a wide variety of other inspection tasks from basic PCB inspection to quality control for molded pieces and
