Unitronics Expands Controller Series

Quincy, MA — Samba, an all-in-one, palm-size controller, fills a growing niche — OEMs on a tight budget who need compact controllers for simple machine control, but still want the competitive advantage of an up-to- date, color-touch HMI panel. The first model of Samba was released this spring; now, only few months after that launch, Unitronics is ex- panding the series with 4.3-in. HMI panel model. The beautiful HMI,

NEMA4X rating make Samba an ex- cellent fit for the food and pharma- ceutical

industries; it’s suitable

wherever spray or wipe down re- quirements apply. Both Samba units come supplied with a built-in pro- gramming port (RS-232 for the 3.5- in. model and USB for the 4.3-in. model) and an additional RS-485 se- rial, Ethernet, or CANbus port can be added. Samba supports GPRS/GSM, e- mail and SMS, as well as indus- trial TCP/IP protocols, MOD- BUS, DF1 slave, CANopen, and J1939; it can also be adapted to any 3rd-party protocol. with 3.5 or 4.3-in. QVGA 16-bit touchscreen, enables data entry and display of variable data, including color trend graphs and alarm screens. Samba supports 24 user-de-

signed screens, and up to 40 images per application. The integrated PLC offers a broad range of features in- cluding 2 auto-tuned PID loops, time- based RTC control, data logging, recipes and more. The internal mem- ory holds 0.5MB of application logic, plus 512k for fonts and 0.5MB for im- ages. Onboard I/Os offer digital, ana- log, and high-speed functionality. The flat fascia and IP66/IP65/

software provides a single, sim- ple environment for hardware and communications configura- tion, Ladder application devel- opment, and HMI design, in- cluding a free library of indus- trial images. Free utilities in- clude remote PC access and

data export. The company offers free technical support for all of its prod- ucts and supports an active user forum. Samba provides all the func-

tionality system integrators need for small applications, reduces space and wiring requirements, and elimi- nates the need to set up Panel-PLC communication — resulting in an ex-

cellent price-performance ratio. Contact: Unitronics Ltd., 1
