Pay-on-foot commuter parking technology

P arkAdvance has been designed with some of the most challenging parking
environments in mind, and perhaps rail commuter parking is amongst the most challenging of all. Commuters and rail parking operators want systems that are consistently reliable, intuitively fast to use and offer the potential for simplifying/enhancing the commuter experience. The coupling of WPS’ proven equipment reliability and service with the ability to seamlessly and fl exibly integrate with the very latest information technologies is helping to ensure that the needs of both audiences are met.
The system is built around WPS’ innovative IP-based operating system architecture. Flexible by design, ParkAdvance is able to directly web connect with the broad range of technologies being deployed in and around commuter car parks both now and in the future.
Ensuring that time-poor commuter requirements are met, the system has been designed to be extremely quick and easy to use. It features optimally-sized colour display screens that are real-time confi gurable from a central control room and can include advertisements, travel information, audio/video instructions and a two-way intercom with video support to further improve the consumer experience.
At a practical level, the technology has comprehensive cash and card handling options as well as accommodating the latest payment technologies. ParkAdvance also simultaneously integrates a wide range of customer ‘identifi ers’ at the point of entry, payment and exit from
barcoded tickets and smart/contactless cards through to automatic number plate recognition (ANPR).
Arguably, the technology’s foremost attribute is the ease of its interconnectivity. The IP-based architecture is ideally suited to parking
operators who
wish to cost effectively and effortlessly manage multiple sites from a single control location, and at the same time interface seamlessly with their other business systems. This interconnectivity is changing the economics of pay-on-foot parking by making even small car parks cost effectively manageable from one central or regional location. Staffi ng can also be more effi ciently deployed whilst maintaining
high
levels of customer service.
