SMART BUILDING
Set the controls for the heart of the home
ELKO EP
iNELS Home Control (iHC) is at the core of ELKO EP’s home automation
offering.The company says that its iMM Server can be used to connect almost all the technologies in a house with the iNELS Bus System – lighting, heating, blinds, air conditioning, cameras, appliances, multimedia (audio, video) – using a single application. The iMM Client can be used as a videozone player, with the TV serving as a videozone that allows users to watch television programmes, browse photos and play music or movies from network storage. It can also be employed to control the entire installation, using an icon- based system displayed on the TV. Also available on the TV is a video feed from a front door camera.
The Connection Server allows communication between iNELS Bus system units and other devices using different protocols,
enabling all devices to be controlled through just the one application.
It uses the small but powerful
Raspberry Pi computer running the Linux operating system. Connection protocols supported include: RPC (for communication with applications in smartphones and tablets); Epsnet (for communication with central units); Miele (for communication with household appliances); IP Cameras (for communication with cameras);
Coolmaster (for communication with air conditioning); and eLAN- RF (for communication with iNELS RF Control wireless units). It is a subset of iMM Server in that multimedia is not implemented, but it is smaller and costs less. Also available is iMM Audio
Zone, which serves as an audiozone player and can be integrated via iNELS through the iMM Server. Stand: 1-Q10
Simplifying automation functionality
BASALTE
Sentido and Deseo, Basalte’s best-selling products, are on display at ISE 2014. Both are said to complement perfectly the company's philosophy of simplicity, quality and understated class. According to the company,
The ELKO EP iMM Server can be used to connect a range of home technologies
complex automation technology can easily be reduced to having the essential functionalities in only one button. This is demonstrated in its innovative switch Sentido, which is designed to be both functional and user-friendly. The switch is divided into two or four squares by which two or four functions can be controlled. The entire surface is touch-sensitive, and the slightest touch is sufficient to operate the lights. In addition, the room
controller, Deseo, boasts an
integrated temperature sensor. This ‘innovative square’ – within the size of a standard switch – is said to perfectly complement Sentido and allows the user to control via the integrated display the various functions of a home automation system per room: steer individual light circuits; retrieve different atmospheres; control blinds; and with the built-in thermostat, operate heating, air-conditioning and ventilation. Both products were developed in line with the international standard for KNX home automation systems. Since most home automation systems today are controlled through iPad, Basalte has also launched Eve, a frame to attach the iPad in an elegant and stylish way to the wall. Stand: 7-Q190
