FLYBE IS CUTTING 30 ROUTES next year. The regional carrier said it had “reconfigured” its route network for 2014, which will see Flybe operate 150 routes for next summer’s season, which runs from March 30 to October 25. It also announced last month that it will close six of its UK bases (Aberdeen, Guernsey, Inverness, Isle of Man, Jersey and Newcastle) as part of plans to make a further 500 redundancies. Year-round services to be cut include Belfast City, East Midlands,


Cardiff and Glasgow to Paris CDG, Exeter-Newcastle, Glasgow- Shannon and Leeds Bradford-Southampton.


PARTNERSHIPS DELTA-VIRGIN JOINT VENTURE


DELTA AND VIRGIN Atlantic are set to launch their new co-ordinated schedules, following the start of the airlines’ joint venture on January 1. The agreement allows co- ordination of schedules and revenue-sharing on all routes between the UK and the US. It is similar to the joint


business already operated by rivals British Airways and American Airlines. The new schedule will start in April, when Delta will also move flights on its key business routes – New York (JFK), Boston and Seattle – to Heathrow’s Terminal 3 to co-locate with Virgin. The


airlines are also operating joint corporate and agency sales programmes.


Delta said it had already increased sales on its UK services by US$25 million since the introduction of codeshares with Virgin in July, and expected this to rise to US$120 million per year through the joint venture.
