PETER GOWERS Peter Gowers has been appointed as chief executive officer of Travelodge. Before joining the UK budget hotel chain, Gowers previously worked as CEO of Safestore Holdings, and CEO of Asia-Pacific for Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) and chief marketing officer of IHG.
SIMON LAFFIN Flybe has appointed Simon Laffin as chairman. Laffin is also chairman of Assura Group, and of the audit committee at Quintain. Previous roles include group finance and property director at Safeway, and non-executive director at Aegis Group, and at Northern Rock, where he was part of the rescue team.

Rupert Hogg has been appointed as chief operating officer of Cathay Pacific, effective from this March. This promotion has come after three years working in his current role as director of sales and marketing at Cathay, and a further two years previously as director of cargo.

JAMES RUNNICLES FCM Travel Solutions has appointed James Runnicles as UK head of sales. After winning the title of Top Global Business Development Manager at Flight Centre Group’s awards in 2011, he moved on to become sales director at FCM, where he succeeded in winning lucrative new client accounts.
PHILLIP HALLER Phillip Haller has been appointed as chief marketing officer of Yoo Hotels. He has more than 20 years’ experience in luxury branded hospitality marketing, and previously worked as vice-president of marketing and brand development at Salvatore Ferragamo’s Lungarno Collection of luxury hotels.

ROSEMARY NI SASSI Rosemary Ni Sassi has been appointed as client account coordinator of Marlin Apartments. Her new role is to target both corporate clients and leisure travellers arriving in London from China. Sassi has many years’ experience working in sales in the serviced apartments industry.

PHILIPPE GOMBERT Relais and Chateaux has appointed Philippe Gombert as international president. Previously Gombert has worked for Relais and Chateaux as regional delegate for the Great South West of France, as first national delegate for France, and as secretary general of its executive committee.
KYLE FERGUSON Kyle Ferguson has been appointed as chief commercial officer of Spendvision, a new role that the technology company has created to enable Ferguson to execute its growth strategy. He joined the company in 2012 and has played a vital part in its growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
RICHARD KAROL Wings Travel Management has appointed Richard Karol as vice- president of the Americas. Karol has worked in the oil-and-gas travel and logistics sectors for more than 30 years. Previously he was president at Navigant International’s Brazil office, and established two travel management companies in Brazil.
HRS New appointments at HRS include Keaton Lee and Lynne Waller as corporate sales managers. Their roles will include developing business, primarily in greater London and the south east of England. Lee has 20 years’ of sales experience working in the financial services sector, and for the last three years he was corporate sales manager at Gray Dawes travel management company. Waller previously worked in sales and business development at BC Software and as regional sales manager at Four Pillars Hotels.
RUAN COURTNEY Air Charter Service has appointed Ruan Courtney as managing director. Courtney, who has worked for the company for the last 16 years, has spent time in almost every department. His new role as will be to oversee Air Charter Service’s global executive jets divisions.
