Industry professionals joined BBT to interview event director David Chapple on what we can expect at the 2014 show. The show’s event director, David Chapple, said: “Technology, in particular the internet and mobile apps, is cited as the main driver behind an increasing number of buyers being tempted to book outside policy, and yet nearly two-thirds of buyers believe mobile is still their friend.”

Robinson said: “If mobile technology is not embraced by the travel management company [TMC] then it is more than likely to reduce traveller compliance – to be able to manage your travel from where you want, when you want, and with whichever device you want, is a major driver for busy travellers.”


The survey also revealed that 71 per cent of buyers’ budgets for 2013 were either the same, or higher, than the previous year, and 75 per cent said budgets would increase or be the same year-on-year in 2014, with 48 per cent expecting to manage more trips this year.
