news Guerlain Spa debuts at Waldorf Astoria Berlin

Germany: The much-anticipated Waldorf Astoria Berlin’s Guerlain Spa has opened in the spectacular Zoofenster skyscraper in Berlin City West.

The new 1,000sqm facility – a German

fi rst for fragrance and skincare specialist Guerlain – is located on the fi fth fl oor of the hotel and offers a menu of tailor-made experiences and exclusive treatments. Hilton’s Director of Spa Operations and

Development, Europe, Louise Moore, told European Spa: “Our close relationship with Guerlain started fi ve years ago when we launched our strategy to create branded spa concepts with the refurbishment of the Waldorf Astoria New York. There’s a real synergy between the two brands and our understanding of the level of luxury,

exclusivity and individuality we wanted to deliver to our spa guests. Our goal is really to establish this as more than a spa – we have created a centre for skincare excellence in the heart of Berlin.”

Managed by Karin Pollinger, the spa Louise Moore

features eight therapy rooms, luxuriously and individually designed to complement the range of treatments on offer.

The Berlin facility is the fourth in Hilton

Worldwide’s portfolio of branded Guerlain Spas, following a recent opening at the newly refurbished Caledonian in Edinburgh (as reported in European Spa, issue 31), and previous launches at the Waldorf Astoria New York and the Trianon Palace Versailles.

Lithuania: Opened in late 2012, Kempinski The Spa is a new spa and wellness centre at the Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square in Vilnius, Lithuania. The luxury spa concept was inspired by the cycle of the seasons and treatments focus on helping to restore the body’s natural equilibrium. It features an indoor swimming pool, six treatment rooms, a Finnish sauna, a steamroom and a large relaxation area. The facility, located in a historic listed building in the Old Town, is also the fi rst in Lithuania to partner with product houses Elemental Herbology and Daniele de Winter, whose products it will offer exclusively. The concept for Kempinski The Spa was devised in 2009 by Kempinski Hotels in

collaboration with spa consultants Raison d’Etre. A resulting spa management company, Resense Spa, has so far signed 40 co-operation agreements with hotels and 11 spas have already been created, with ambitious plans to grow a global network of 80 spas by 2015. www.kempinski.com/vilnius
