Clockwise from top: The reflexology basins are intended to be an open invitation to guests and passing hikers to pause and refresh; a cowbell rings when guests enter the heat cabins; the outdoor whirlpool offers views of the famous Eiger mountain; the sauna was made from matured timber
healing properties of the surrounding natural resources – from the Alpine herbal steambath to the hayflower sauna, the health-enhancing salt applications and invigorating freshwater experiences.” A large relaxation lounge was created using Alpine materials to enhance the spa journey. “The use of natural and locally-sourced materials like stone, wood, leather, or clay prevails throughout the spa’s design,” says Schletterer. “This can be seen in the Relax Lounge, where the floor and walls were created using travertine stone and the room is furnished with shining white leather loungers.” He states that the use of these design elements was intended to bring “freshness and a sense of space to the area, so guests are immediately reminded of the snow-capped peaks and the crisp mountain air of the surrounding Alps.” For Schletterer, the spa’s standout feature is its
combination of steam and herbal baths. “Both baths offer the best of the Alps in terms of wellness and design,” he says. “The health-enhancing powers of salt and Alpine herbs are legendary. In the two baths, the Alps are not just represented through their natural resources but also through large-scale mountain
panoramas and spectacular hiking scenes depicted on the walls. A charming feature of the herbal bath is the cow bell that rings when guests enter the cabin.” ‘Swissness’ runs deep at the Aspen Alpine Lifestyle
Hotel Spa with the design and concept blending naturally into their surrounding landscape, regional culture and local lifestyle, and a special emphasis placed on sustainability. “The spa’s design references the very best Alpine wellness traditions which have been authentically reinterpreted to meet the expectations of modern guests,” concludes Schletterer, “thereby setting new standards in the Alpine spa experience.”
