between groups obtained after a 12 click adjustment, I found it to be almost exactly three inches in each case, which means that each click is equivalent to one-fourth of an inch. I have some rather expensive and popular brand scopes that do not fare well in this test. Last, I wanted to see if changing
the magnification changed the point of impact so I fired a five-shot group with one shot each on 4, 6, 8, 12, and 16 power magnification. The result was a 1.14 inch group with four shots mea- suring only 0.68 inch. The scope holds zero very well as the magnification is changed. Although no highly scientific

value of a click agrees with the speci- fied amount. I began by firing a three-shot
group which gave a single, ragged hole. I adjusted the scope 12 clicks upward and fired another three-shot group. The wind was not cooperating and that group was strung out horizontally in a 1.19-inch group. After a 12 click adjust- ment to the right, another group was obtained that measured 0.68 inch. A 12 click adjustment downward resulted in a 0.81 inch group. Then came the final
adjustment of 12 clicks to the left which should bring the point of impact back to the original. Three shots were fired, and the first three and last three shots were clustered in a 0.73 inch group that had five shots in a cluster that measured only 0.44 inch. It was obvious that the scope
passed the “shooting the square” pro- cedure in excellent fashion. I have tried the procedure with some much more expensive scopes that did not do nearly so well. When I measured the distance
tests were performed with the Cen- terPoint 4-16x AO scope, the results of the practical tests show that the scope performs very well indeed. In fact, I was so impressed that after the tests, I simply left the CenterPoint on my 222 Remington and did not put that $400 scope back on the rifle. I cannot say that every specimen of the CenterPoint scope would perform as well, but I have never tested a scope selling for $70 that gave such good performance.

The results of shooting the square show that the CenterPoint scope performed very well. The 0.73-inch cluster on the lower left represents six shots, three before any adjustment and three after all adjustments.

This 1.14-inch group was produced by firing one shot each at 4, 6, 8, 12, and 16x magnification. Four of the shots measured only 0.68 inch.
