2013 VARMINT HUNTERS MIDWEST REGIONAL RIFLE MATCH


DATE: Saturday, May 4, 2013. TIME: 8:00 a.m. sign-in, 8:30 shooters meeting, first shot at 9:00 a.m.

MOTELS: Wabash Knights Inn 800-626-7103 or Holiday Inn Express 260-569-1189. CAMPING: Mississinewa Lake and Salamonie Lake State Recreation Areas feature modern campsites with sewer and electric, approximately 15 miles from the range. FOOD & DOOR PRIZES: Hot lunch and drinks available on match day. Must be preregistered and present at end to win door prize.


PREPAID REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Sunday, April 21, 2013. No refunds considered after the preregistration deadline. Late and/or walk-on registrations may be available, benches permitting, at $5.00 per gun additional.


PRACTICE DAY: The Wabash club range is open for V.H.A. Regional practice on Friday, May 3, from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ENTRY FEE: $45 for the first gun. $30 for the second gun (2nd gun includes Aggregate class). State Team fee $60 per team.

V.H.A. MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED: Shooters must list V.H.A. membership number on registration. To join, call the V.H.A. office at 800-528-4868 or join on-line at www.VarmintHunter.org or e-mail at members@VarmintHunter.org in time to receive a membership number to submit with your paid registration. Memberships will be verified for the date of the match.


SAFETY & RELEASE: All in attendance must sign a liability release prior to participation. No alcoholic beverages permitted. Eye and ear protection required. No bolts allowed in rifles on premises until commanded to install by a range officer.


TARGETS: Match is 20 rounds, fired for score on paper varmint targets with scoring rings. 5 shots at 100 yards, 10 shots at 300 yards, and 5 shots at 400 yards. Perfect score is 200 points with 20x. Xs and reverse count employed as tiebreakers.


RELAYS, AMMO, SIGHTERS, ORDER OF FIRE: 100 yard relays will be for 5 shots on 5 separate prairie dog targets with scoring rings 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5. The 300 yard and 400 yard prairie dog targets also have scoring ring points 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5. Only the specified number of rounds of ammo permitted on the bench during record fire. Sighter target and 2-minute unlimited sighter period provided, prior to every relay. Best edge scoring of the worst record hits on the target shall be counted. Must confirm misfires with range officer to obtain ammo change/addition. No spotters allowed. No re-entries. No spotting scopes.


CROSS FIRES: Watch your target through the end of the relay. To claim a cross fire or a misfire, you must note it with a range officer as soon as possible, prior to the end of your relay, for consideration. No additional time will be allowed to any shooter.


FRONT REST: Benchrest pedestal, bag, or bipod. REAR REST: Bag or block or pod. No one-piece rests. No nesting bags. CLASSES


No gun sharing and no shooter assistance, except with a youth shooter (under 18).


FACTORY CLASS: Must be unaltered factory production receiver, stock, barrel and chamber. No machine work allowed except as noted below. May be any factory chambered cartridge 30 caliber (308) or less. Allowed deviations from pure factory are: Trigger may be aftermarket, receiver may be bedded, butt stock may be shortened, recoil pad may be added, and barrel may be re-crowned. Factory class allows factory original muzzle brakes. Any scope and mount is acceptable. No altered factory flat bottom stocks. No stock with fore-end over 2.3" wide. No fore-end stabilizers such as Accuracy Asset. No “custom shop” rifles: i.e., 40-X, Cooper, Kimber, Dakota, Lazzaroni, and Nesika.


CUSTOM CLASS: Rifles not qualifying for the Factory Class. Twenty-five pound weight limit (25#), including scope. Must be 30 caliber (308) or less. No rail guns. No “clam shell” muzzle brakes allowed.


AGGREGATE: Combines Factory and Custom class scores for two-gun Aggregate match. Prize purse and certificates awarded.


VHA Midwest Regional Aggregate Top Gun award: Sponsored by the Wabash club. $50 annually to record breaking Aggregate shooter. 2013 high Agg. shall receive the first award of $50 to establish it. Shooter subsequently breaking the established record gets $50. WWSA will keep a trophy at the Wabash clubhouse with names of the record breakers.


STATE TEAM COMPETITION: Four shooters per team, must be from same state. Combine their Aggregate scores. Multiple teams from a state OK, but a shooter may compete on only one team. Winner take all, prize purse and traveling trophy.


YOUTH CLASS: Same rules except $10 per gun entry fee for separate Youth prize purse. $20 maximum shoots Factory and Custom.
