South Fork Rifle Club, located in south central Pennsylvania near the town of Beaverdale in Cambria County. Directions are on the website:
www.southforkrifleclub.com. Home of the Western Pennsylvania Long Range Groundhog Shooters. There will be a regular Groundhog match on Sunday, June 2.
ENTRY FEE:
$30.00 per gun. In addition, $10.00 if you want to enter the aggregate. The aggregate will add your Factory scores and Custom scores together. Four places will be paid if more than 40 shooters in the class. If fewer than 40 shooters in a class, only three places will be paid. V.H.A. award certificates will be given to each winner.
*** GENERAL RULES ***
Must be a current member of V.H.A. Please have ID card or Varmint Hunter Magazine cover with your name and address shown. If not a current member go to www.
varminthunter.org or 1-800-528-4868. Please do so in time to receive your new membership card prior to the match. Also, you can join at the range on match day. No gun sharing and no shooter assistance.
SAFETY:
No alcoholic beverages permitted. Eye and ear protection required. Bolts must be removed from rifles until range officer gives the command to install. No spotters allowed and no spotting scopes are allowed on the range. All shooters and guests must sign and date a liability release.
TARGETS:
Targets will be located approximately 100 yards, 300 yards, and 400 yards. There will be two sighter shots at 100 yards. All relays will fire six shots for score at 100 yards, then each relay will shoot six shots at 300 yards, then each relay will shoot six shots at 400 yards. At each distance there will be a different target. Best edge scoring will be used. If more than six holes on target, score will be the worst six.
CROSSFIRES:
Watch your target. To claim a crossfire, you must have it verified by a range officer prior to the end of your relay for consideration. Line Officers and scorers will try to resolve crossfires and will have final say. No additional ammo will be allowed to any shooter.
Page 138 Spring 2013 RELAYS & AMMUNITION:
Relays will be 6 minutes at each distance, with a one minute preparation period. Match is 18 rounds for score, plus 2 sighters. Ammo for 100 yards is 8 rounds, 300 yards is 6 rounds, 400 yards is 6 rounds per bench and must be displayed for range officers to observe. Muzzle brakes are allowed. FRONT REST: Benchrest pedestal, bag, or bipod. REAR REST: Bag. No one-piece rests. No nesting of sandbags.
*** CLASSES *** FACTORY: (NEW)
Must be unaltered factory production receiver, stock, and chamber. Must be 30 caliber (308) or less. Allowed deviations from factory are: Barrel may be recrowned, muzzle brakes allowed if factory original, trigger may be aftermarket, safety must work, and receiver may be bedded. Any scope is acceptable. No altered flat bottom stocks. No stock with a forearm over 2.3” wide. No forearm stabilizers such as Accuracy Asset. No “custom shop” rifles, i.e., 40-X, Cooper, Kimber, Dakota, Lazzeroni, or Nesika.
CUSTOM:
Rifles not qualifying for factory class. Twenty-five pound weight limit (25), including scope. Must be 30 caliber (308) or less. Gun must be capable of being held and fired from the shoulder. No rail guns.
AGGREGATE:
Combine your Factory and Custom class scores for a $10 flat fee. Pays: 1st place 50%, 2nd place 30%, and 3rd place 20%.
