in the waning light of the past sunset. While the quality of the rifle and barrel certainly has a primary influence on the accuracy of the shooting, a scope also is a key component in the entire process. I shot two different factory loads through the 22-250 Dimension: Federal Premium cartridges loaded with 43-grain Speer TNT Green bullets and Hornady Varmint Express™ which were loaded with 40-grain V-Max bullets. While these loads printed in a slightly different location on paper at 100 yards, amazingly both loads produced very similar group sizes. The average three-shot group for both types of ammunition worked out to the same 11/8-inch spread. The smallest group for the Federal ammunition came in at ¹5/16-inch and the smallest shot with the Hornady ammunition was slightly smaller at ¹3/16-inch. After punching quite a few holes in paper I couldn’t resist turning the scope to a hanging metal silhouette target positioned 375 yards downrange. Soon I had a nice cluster of impact points on the newly painted surface that measured only about 2 inches across. Surely, any one of those shots would result in severely disrupting a prairie dog’s day.
WHAT I LIKED MOST ABOUT THE VX-6
Some of the things I certainly found beneficial within
my testing of the 3-18x44mm CDS scope were: its amazingly broad 6x zoom capabilities and its top-end 18x for long-range shooting potential, the light gathering abilities and clarity through the lenses, the pop-up rezeroing reticle adjustments, the large clear-to-read markings on the dials, the easy to turn magnification dial, the CDS capabilities that would come in very handy with some of the other reticle choices, overall attractiveness of the scope, and clearly the Full Lifetime Guarantee/Leupold Golden Ring Warranty. I believe all of these characteristics, along with the many other favorable features, combine to make the Leupold VX-6 one of the best scopes the company has built thus far.
