you have two choices: tough it out, or pack up and go. In our case, packing up means a very long drive home, and with limited shooting time we just continue to shoot. Take a mo- ment and think about how that wind can affect your shoot- ing. While you can predict but not control the effect wind has downrange, you absolutely can control how you set up at the point of fire. A lower stance will present less surface to be affected by the wind. If you are using a taller front rest, switch to a shorter one. If you are sitting on a bench, roll out your mat and get on the ground. If you’re on the ground, try to position your truck so that it helps block some of the pre- vailing winds. If you and your gun are able to be more stable, you’ll have more success with your shots even in the wind. FIELD TESTING:

BROWNING SHOULDER SAVER SHIRT AND

BUSHNELL FUSION 1600 ARC RANGEFINDING BINOCULAR I’m a big fan of objectivity, which might be why I seem

to have problems trusting movie reviewers and weather forecasters. I like to know the facts, objective data, and then like to weigh others’ opinions along with the facts. I strive for objectivity with my reviews, but opinions matter also. I’m going to provide you with both in these reviews. I’m also going to provide you with the bottom line, which is: Will I spend my hard-earned dollars purchasing these items? See the reviews below to find out. FIELD TEST:

BROWNING SHOULDER SAVER SHIRT

Browning’s Shoulder Saver™ shirt uses the Reactar G2™ (2nd generation) recoil pad that has 8mm thick envi- ronmentally-friendly Impact Gel™ that reduces peak recoil. This pad, or the earlier version of this pad, may be familiar to you as it has been around for about 20 years and came either with or as an add-on to various shooting jackets from Brown- ing. They also had an awkward configuration that included straps and buckles that featured the effective Reactar™ pad. I’ve used previous iterations of this pad by putting it into the pocket built into Browning’s upland jackets. I’ve always been pleased with the results of the recoil attenuation, but never with the overall fit and packaging of the product itself. It always made the jackets seem bulky, and although it really never interfered directly with shouldering guns, it just seemed to make that process more awkward.

The new Reactar™ G2 pad is nicely packaged with a protective vinyl cover that comes with the tight fitting poly- ester and lycra® Shoulder Saver™ shirt that is designed to help wick moisture away from your body. There are pockets built into both sides of the shirt, and the pad is interchangeable for right- or left-handed shooters. Or, for those particularly bountiful hunts you could purchase an extra pad if you plan to dual-wield two guns or do trick shooting! For those particu- larly in-shape readers, this very tight-fitting shirt is absolutely perfect to emphasize fantastic physiques. As I look more like Danny Devito than Arnold Schwarzenegger, I simply chose to wear another thin moisture moving shirt over the top of the Shoulder Saver™. The two moisture-wicking layers did their jobs, and I was at least as cool, perhaps even more cool than had I worn only a T-shirt. I typically wear a size 42 sport coat, although sometimes I’m able to squeeze into a 40. The sizing chart for the shirt in- dicated I should be wearing a size Large, but after talking with
