able in 243" diameter. Varmint bullets include those in the range of 55-87 grains, and even in this weight range there are many to choose from. For our tests, we chose the 55-grain Nosler Bal- listic Tip, 60-grain Sierra hollow-point, 70-grain Sierra MatchKing, 75-grain Sierra hollow-point, and the 87-grain Hornady spitzer. For each load, 10 car- tridges were assembled, and five were fired in each rifle. In each instance, a five-shot group was obtained at 100 yards. None of the loads showed signs of excessive pressure in our rifles, but they should be used with caution. Velocities were measured at 10
feet from the muzzle by means of a Competition Electronics ProChrono chronograph. The results obtained are shown in the accompanying table. Testing was conducted at a range

several interesting facts. First, as would be expected, the two rifles gave almost the same velocities for identical loads. In some cases, the difference was as
small as 10 feet per second or less. Second, for most loads, both
