or two. All I have to do is remember where one bullet hits relative to how the gun is sighted in. Fortunately my particular 257 Roberts rifle shoots the 85-grain bullet almost exactly 2 inches higher than the 100-grain at 100 yards. Since I sight in almost all of my eastern deer rifles dead on at 100 yards, I al- ways know where it will hit, regardless of the load I am using. For long-range shooting, I always
found the various larger 25 caliber cartridges much less particular than corresponding 6mm rounds. While there is no denying that the accuracy champ of the world is, and has been for 20 years, the 6mm PPC, my experience has been that 25 caliber rifles are easier to find an accurate load for and are less sensitive to atmospheric changes, such as temperature and altitude. Using heavy-barreled rifles I have had great luck with the 25/284, 25-06, 25-06 Ack- ley Improved, and even such possibly over-bore rounds as the 25 BC (the 6.5 Remington Magnum case), 25 ICL Mag. (a sharp-shouldered version of the 257 Weatherby Magnum) and the Weatherby version itself. In fact, the only 25 caliber rifle I ever had which proved to be practically worthless was a 25 WSSM made up on a Remington 700 action with a very good Spencer barrel. (Neither the receiver nor the barrel was the problem; after cutting two inches off the breech end of the barrel and rechambering it to 25-06 im- proved, it is now a tack driver.) In the not-so-humble opinion of this scribe, the 25 WSSM, along with its smaller brothers, is an answer to a question best left unasked. Even though long shots at deer
in Pennsylvania are rather rare, I have taken my 25/284 custom Sako/
Well folks I’ve hunted coyotes for a very long time but I can honestly say this is one of the best years we’ve ever experienced. We called in more doubles, triples and even quadruples than ever before. We called up and killed coyotes on 60% of our setups! The new electronic calls, the Alpha Dogg™ & Turbo Dogg™, were absolutely phenomenal. So, if you enjoy the action packed excitement of Speaking the Lan- guage, I guarantee you’ll enjoy watching the TRUTH® 9 “Calling All Coyotes™”!

Shilen-barreled “varmint rifle” out to a friend’s property where we can shoot up to 400 yards along a power line. No doubt if I get the chance, this rifle, along with the 120-grain Nosler Partition bullet it prefers, will knock the stuffing out of a whitetail buck. I already know what it does to lesser critters with an 85-grain Nosler Bal- listic Tip. Whew! Yes, I have had many rifles and
several of these were custom guns, unlike the one gun many Pennsylvania hunters might have, but that is not the issue here. I cite my various rifles only to prove a point – that those chambered
for the various 25 caliber rounds can and have sufficed both for small var- mints (or slightly larger predators!) and for larger game as well. I would not hesitate shooting at least elk-sized animals with a 25-06 or a similar round. So, if you want to – or have to – limit yourself to one rifle that can do it all, buy a 25 caliber of some sort, find good loads using light bullets and heavy ones, and go for it. No matter what you are hunting, it will work fine. (As long as the target cannot fight back, but that is a subject for another day.)
