shooting glasses. The center focus wheel was a bit sensitive but once I got used to it, it presented no problem unless I wanted to hurriedly look at something. A really nice feature is the tripod adaptor on the Endeavor. I mounted the binocular on a Vanguard tripod to ease the strain of holding the glass up while spotting long strings of fire at the spring 2012 ASC match. So mounted, this glass is about as efficient as a spotting scope out to about 300 or so yards.

host of other small stuff. The Signature Series Shooting bag is 15 inches long, 13” wide, and 9” high, and seems small at first glance. It is, however, capable of hauling quite a bit of gear and, for me at least, has helped to clean up the front seat of the truck. The Signature Series Shooting bag is available from Brownells in Hunter Green or Dark Brown and retails for $129.99. VANGUARD ENDEAVOR ED 10.5X45 BINOCULAR

Vanguard is best known for their tripods but the company recently has expanded into the sport optics market. I took their new Endeavor Binocular west for the summer varmint hunt and was quite pleased with the performance of this glass.

The 10.5x45 Endeavor has BaK4 roof prisms and special anti-reflection lens coatings. The lenses are made from premium ED glass which gives the user great resolution and clarity of image. The adjustable eyecups and long eye re- lief made for easy use with sunglasses or

I didn’t use the Endeavor in low light conditions, although my son did during the 2011 West Virginia deer sea- son. Brock said it performed quite well in the deer woods at dusk and dawn. The Endeavor is nitrogen-charged, o- ring sealed, and is totally waterproof and fogproof. Although I detest the things and remove them, the Endeavor ED comes with nice rubber lens caps. The neck strap provided is padded and has a slick finish which I like because it will slide over clothing and not stick when getting the glass up for a look-see. The Vanguard Endeavor ED 10.5x45 is covered by a Premium Life- time Warranty and seems to be pretty tough. Between my son and me, we used this glass in the field for probably 10 weeks or more continuously (it cur- rently is still in use as it seldom leaves my truck). Neither my son nor I are easy on binoculars. The Endeavor has sur- vived rain and snow during the fall of 2011 and the blistering heat of the Great Plains while being banged around on the truck dash for more than six weeks during the summer of 2012. It still is as good as new. The Endeavor ED 10.5x45 binocular retails for $399 at many stores nationwide, and some rebates are avail- able as this is written.
