They started the trend for some of the very best 22 centerfire cartridges we have today, many of which have been formally com- mercialized by Remington, Winchester and others. While most of the present day small game cartridges are readily available in off-the-shelf rifles, those willing to spend a modest amount of cash to rechamber or rebarrel a rifle can experience the fun and nostalgic feeling of shooting vintage cartridges today on their favorite pasture.

of these classic examples need some work and effort to get started, most can be fireformed right in the chamber, neck sized and then reloaded to ’chuck busting velocities. Since you will re- barrel the gun, slightly used rifles can be purchased on the secondary market if you wish, then rechambered by any competent gunsmith to handle all of these cartridges conveniently without much of a cash outlay. Wasp, which I always have had a strong desire to hunt with since my adolescent days on the farm in New York state. Even when I was a boy, the 219 Don- aldson was already 20 years old, being developed by Harvey Donaldson in the same state around 1935. To start out, I purchased a Ruger No. 1 rifle chambered in 218 Bee. I then sent it to the Bullberry Barrel Works (2430 W. Bullberry Lane, Hurricane, UT 84737) to be chambered for the 219 Don- aldson Wasp. Since the 218 Bee had the correct barrel twist, all Bullberry had to do was to recut the chamber for the new round, then alter the extractor slightly
