CGI Americas Intros Advanced Test System

Santa Ana, CA — CGI Americas has introduced the Newly N=1 Checker first article test system for PCB as- semblies. This is reportedly a revolu- tionary breakthrough in performance and cost. The Newly N=1 Checker has

been developed for prototype, high mix/low volume, and pre-production applications as well as component re- vision verification and production change overs. The Test Program Generator

(TPG) software automates the pro- gramming function so that even un- trained operators can use the system. The instrument performs high-speed automatic impedance measurement for both resistance and capacitance combined with a visual inspection to verify component type, orientation, text, and angle, as well presence and absence.

Iselin, NJ — TDK Corp. has unveiled LCap, a new film capacitor from EPCOS for motor control applications. LCap combines an AC capacitor with a choke coil in a single case, cutting costs and halving assembly times. Savings also result from the fact that only two leads are now required in- stead of four as before. The choke coil is molded into the capacitor case, lead- ing to further benefits such as reduced sensitivity to external influences as well as higher long-term stability com- pared to discrete solutions. LCap is available with capaci-

tances from 3µF to 50µF and induc- tances from 5µH to 100µH and is de- signed for rated voltages from 250VAC to 450VAC. Other values can be implemented on a customer- specific basis. Typical applications of the com-

bined components of the B32350 se- ries are TRIAC drives for AC induc- tion motors of the kind used in wash- ing machines and tumble dryers. These circuits have two TRIACs, one
