Page 27 SIPLACE: Smart Pin Support for PCBs

Munich, Germany — With its SIPLACE Smart Pin Support, ASM Assembly Systems provides a hard- ware-software combination that sim- plifies this previously cumbersome and complex support pin placement

the placement process. It then places them, in their pre-programmed posi- tions, quickly and accurately on the lifting plate — thus eliminating an- other error-prone and expensive manual process from production and helps to make production processes more flexible. This is necessary for large, heavy or very thin boards which frequently require support pins during the placement process to prevent warping or vibration. The support system makes an-

other troublesome task a thing of the past: Very large, heavy or sensitive circuit boards must frequently be supported by special support pins during the placement process in

order to ensure the best possible placement quality. This job had to be performed manually. And since it was important to take sensitive com- ponents on the underside of the board into account, the work had to be highly accurate and took a lot of time. In addition, the line had to be at a complete standstill. What had been a time-consum-

ing activity, has thus been turned into a fixed, automated part of the placement process. The first step in- volves defining the support pin posi- tions in the placement program. The software identifies potential colli- sions with components on the under- side of the board, making correct pin

placement easy. During the place- ment process, the pin picker picks up the required pins and sets them down in the predefined positions. Be- fore the pins are placed, the assigned spot on the lift table is cleaned with compressed air to remove any possi- ble contamination. In addition, after placement the PCB position recogni- tion camera inspects the pins’ posi- tioning which, if needed, can then be

readjusted. Contact: ASM Assembly Sys- tems, LLC, 3975 Lakefield Court,

Fisnar: New Fast-Track Delivery Program

Wayne, NJ — Fisnar Liquid Control has inaugurated its Fast-Track deliv- ery program for selected models of metering and mixing machines. The Fast-Track program enables cus- tomers to obtain rapid delivery of standard machines, configured for common two-part materials used in potting, form-in-place gaskets and sealing operations. The company has over 40 years

of experience in design and manufac- ture of metering and mixing solu- tions for automotive, electronics, medical and renewable energy indus-
