Issue 03 – October 2012 SPC and Plastribution –

a win-win partnership by Katherine White

As from July 31 this year, Plastribution is now pleased to be increasing its sales and distribution responsibilities for Sumika Polymer Compounds (SPC), our Havant based supplier partner of filled polypropylene grades under the Thermofil brand.

“For me this represents a very exciting “win-win” move that more than hints at the shape of polymer-based business to come; in the UK and more globally. The move basically maximises the best from both parties – and the customer emerges as a clear winner.

Both ourselves and SPC are now freed up to focus on our respective strengths: SPC can now concentrate exclusively on all large customers, design, research and production-based matters relating to Thermofil materials.

Plastribution, meanwhile, now has complete autonomy to get SPC’s materials to its customers, all at optimum effectiveness and cost. Naturally, we pride ourselves in logistics and materials management and will be looking to raise customer satisfaction and service.

Naturally, some issues will be retained. SPC, for example, will continue to determine all selling prices for its Thermofil range of materials and for other grades supplied.

For our part, improved product availability will be a key feature of our new supply arrangement: If you were

previously a direct customer of SPC, we will discuss with you all aspects of your future need and we will then ensure that appropriate levels of stock are provided for you. And thanks to Plastribution’s methods of stockholding, there will also be increased flexibility to meet any unexpected increases in your demand.

In addition, for those products held in Plastribution’s UK warehouses, a next-working-day delivery service will apply to Thermofil orders placed with us by noon the previous day.

Plastribution continues to increase its customer resource on technical issues: In addition to SPC technical services, customers will also have direct access to the same at Plastribution; opening up all the rest of the materials in the Plastribution Product Portfolio.

We believe that this partnership represents an exciting new way for polymer manufacturers and distributors to work together.

In the coming months – via know-how magazine – and other media, we shall hope to show you exactly how.”
