gies, which allows it to add food colourings to bioplas- tics by encapculating the colorant in silica. The silicate matrix is said to protect the colorant from oxidation, increase its resistance to solvents and water, and minimise migration from the plastic matrix. The Biocolen technology currently includes brown, green, orange, yellow, red and violet products. Germany’s Novosystems (Hall B3, Stand 3209) will
launch its Novotone Main Colours, which allows it to create any colour from the industry-standard Pantone range. The Novotone system is available for both liquid colour and the company’s Novopearls microbatch products. The company says the user has only to choose the colour required and it will replicate it using its predetermined colour mixing recipes. More than 2,000 shades can be reproduced using the Novotone range of 15 standard colours. Netherlands-based Purac (Hall B4, Stand 4207) will
show a range of packaging and disposable foodware items produced using its new Puralact heat resistant polylactic acid polymers. It claims its L and D-based lactide homopolymers lift the performance of the bioplastic into the 80-180˚C temperature range, opening up opportunities in areas such as automotive and electronics, as well as packaging. Fakuma presents the first opportunity for
Teknor Apex (Hall B4, Stand 4107)to show its expanded range of engineering thermoplas- tics in Europe. The latest addition to its Beetle range of PA, PET and PBT-based compounds is the Beetle E line, a cost optimised range of non-reinforced and glass reinforced polyamide products available in black or natural colours. The company will also show its new Chemlon 800 series of PA 6,12-based compounds for used in production of fuel line components. Multi-component mould tooling specialist
Weber Esslingen (Hall A3, Stand 3302) will introduce a new indexing rotary turntable suitable for use on injection machines with tiebar spacings up to 1,020mm. The new turntable is available in two versions. The DE824 is a servo-electric drive design that can be programmed to index at any angle between 0 and 360˚ and can carry a load of up to 3.5 tonnes. The DE825 is a traditional hydraulic type offered with 120 or 180˚ indexing. Automation specialist Wittmann (Hall B1, Stand 1204) will introduce its W822 robot, which it says is designed as an entry level unit for moulders requiring the ability to carry out some additional tasks such as insert loading or needing to accommodate heavy end-of-arm tooling. The W822 differs from other

models in the W82x series in using a rack and pinion drive on the vertical axis, allowing it to handle payloads of up to 15kg in 1,000 and 1,200mm stroke variants (12kg for the 1,400mm option). Designed for use on machines up to around 400
tonnes, the W822 can be equipped for up to 4,000mm of horizontal travel and can be fitted with a range of automation accessories, including servo-rotating heads and vacuum grippers. It comes as standard with Wittmann’s R8.2 controller.

Meet us at the show
If you are going to be at the Fakuma show, why not call in on our stand (Hall B2, Stand 2124), where you can find out more about the plastics magazines, market reports, conferences and books AMI offers the plastics industry. Key products include the company’s recently published guides to the injection moulding industries in Austria (with data on more than 170 sites), Switzerland (more than 200 sites), and Central Europe (more than 1,500 sites), as well as information on the upcoming new edition of the guide to the injection moulding industry in Germany (which will include data on around 2,300 sites). ❙
