Momentum – October 2012
KH: Could you describe your forthcoming new role in a little detail for us?
HD: My new role will be Internal Sales Representative looking after accounts in the West part of the country all the way down to Cornwall and including Wales. It will involve maintaining existing business and obtaining new business working closely with the Technical Sales Executive who is out on the road. It will include speaking with a variety of customers on a daily basis and maintaining relationships with them.
KH: How do you see the challenges of your new role - what sort of new learning do you envisage taking place?
HD: Some challenges will involve facing new accounts and getting to know them. I will be new to them and they will be new to me. However, getting to know new customers is something I really like doing and am really looking forward to. In addition, these new customers will not necessarily have the same outlooks or buying patterns as the ones I look after now. The whole scope of the job will be somewhat wider and I will also have more responsibility. This too is a challenge that I am looking forward to.
KH: Will you be putting your hand up for training? What kinds of training will be available to you?
HD: Yes definitely, I have already had training from the Sales Team Supervisor on some of the aspects of the day-to-day job, particularly aspects that I wasn’t overly sure about. With this new position I am definitely keen to undertake any other training that is offered to me – in terms of sales, work organisation or management techniques. In any event, I know that Plastribution will be happy to provide training on aspects I think will benefit the job, and on any other aspects that I feel need strengthening.
KH: What’s the most satisfying aspect of the job at Plastribution for you?
HD: The most satisfying aspect of the work for me is knowing that you’ve done a good job and being rewarded with the fact that your customers are happy with the service you have provided. Another satisfying aspect of the job is recognition from other colleagues and from my manager for a job well done.
KH: Most unusual aspect of the work?
HD: I guess that the most unusual aspect of the job is some of

the many applications that our customers are involved with. It never ceases to amaze me that the plastic materials that we sell are used for so many weird and wonderful things!
KH: What’s the most difficult aspect of the job?
HD: At Plastribution we always try to minimise difficulties by always having at least one plan-b to hand; especially in relation to months when there may be unforeseen price increases or when certain stocks of material are low or unavailable. My experience is that as long as we keep working closely with our customers, together we always succeed in overcoming these difficulties.
KH: Thank you Hollie and good luck!
