Plastribution hits the road in 2012
Two UK shows during 2012, each with a focus on product design and engineering, provide a platform for Plastribution to present its growing portfolio of engineering plastics for improvements in performance and productivity.
Successful exhibit at PDM12 Once more Plastribution was a key participant at the Plastics Design and Moulding Exhibition and Summit (PDM12) held at the ExCel Centre in London in May. Visitors to the Plastribution stand were able to find out more about the broad range of engineering, styrenic and commodity thermoplastics carried by the UK’s leading distributor, as well as advice on material selection and processing for new and existing applications.
Plastribution also marked PDM12 by teaming up with injection moulding technology group Engel and design company Agentdraw to offer free- of-charge, individual consultations relating to product design.
As with previous events, the goal of the Plastics Design Workshop at PDM12 was to offer support to companies who have any plastics project or current issue relating to product design. Areas of discussion included making aesthetic improvements to existing functional designs, the resolution of functional design problems and new ways of achieving cost-effective design.
PDM12 proved itself again to be the perfect place for plastics and design professionals to network, learn and do business. The PDM12 Summit, running across both days of the show, tackled a host of in- depth topics focusing on the core subject of Best Practice in Plastics Design. It included award-winning design and innovation case studies
whilst the second day also featured sessions from the British Plastics Federation’s rotomoulders as well as additives and masterbatch groups.
New Engineering Design show
Plastribution was one of the first material companies to commit to the new Engineering Design show to be held by Findlay Media Ltd. (publishers of Eureka engineering design magazine) on 10th and 11th October 2012 at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
The Engineering Design Show was established for design engineers in the mechanical, electromechanical and electronics disciplines across the full range of industry sectors and is therefore the only one of its kind catering specifically for the needs of design engineers, regardless of the industry in which they work. The show will include a comprehensive conference, exhibition and practical workshop programme - Plastribution is one of the workshop sponsors.
“We are delighted to get involved with such a new and exciting event that specifically targets a key audience for us in terms of the continued , widespread adoption of high performance polymers as an alternative to metal and other materials,” comments Mike Boswell of Plastribution. “Design and innovation are critical to the future success of UK manufacturing and we are convinced that plastics have a key role to play.”
