Test for gross and fine leaks in as little as 6 minutes.*

April, 2012

Grommets also Dampen Noise Astoria, NY — A newly developed series of Anti-Vibration Grommets specifically engineered for electrical insulation, mechanical damping and noise suppression in office or lab equipment is now available from Keystone Electronics Corp. Engineered to isolate sensitive

instrumentation from unpredictable vibration and shock, these new com- ponents have “fingers” which flex as needed to dampen unwanted noise or vibration. Incorporated are special shoulder screws to provide correct spacing which allows screws to be fully tightened down. Designed to accommodate pan-

Only NorCom optical leak technology detects both gross and fine leaks in hermetically sealed packages, this fast. Instead of using multiple technologies

and processes, you can leak test virtually any type of package with one high-speed system. The NorCom 2020™

series inspects hermetically sealed components to

MIL-STD 883 requirements either in seam seal trays, or when already mounted to circuits boards and assemblies. It automatically rejects failed devices, and reports the leak rate for each part, eliminating “divide and conquer” leak testing.

Opto Diode Intros New High-Power IR LEDs

Newbury Park, CA — Opto Diode, a division of ITW and a member of the ITW Photonics Group, is introducing the third in a series of infrared (IR) LEDs, the OD-850L. Domestically manufactured using highly reliable, liquid-phase epitaxially-grown galli- um aluminum arsenide (GaAlAs), the new high optical output IR emit- ters have a medium emission angle for optimum coverage with excellent power density. Similar to the recently intro-

duced OD850W (wide angle emis- sion) and the OD-850N (narrow angle emission) IR LEDs from the company, the new OD-850L is designed to replace the current OD- 880L (medium emission angle) device. The new emitters provide greater output power (nearly 50 per- cent more) with less degradation and higher stability than the legacy devices. In addition, the new 850nm wavelength is also better matched to photo transistors and opto integrated circuits (ICs). The new devices are especially

suitable for industrial control tasks, and are hermetically-sealed in a

standard TO-46 can that is designed with gold-plated surfaces and win- dow caps carefully welded to the case, for added durability. The LEDs can be stored or oper-

ated at temperatures ranging from - 40 to +100°C. The convenient pack-

age is especially suitable for use in optical encoders and photoelectric controls. Peak emission wavelength is 850nm, the total power output ranges from a minimum 25mW, with a typical output at 35mW, and peak

forward current at 300mA. Contact: Opto Diode Corp. 750

Innovative Toolholder Extension from Schunk

Morrisville, NC — Schunk is intro- ducing its new hydraulic expansion extension TENDO-SVL. The exten- sion transforms almost every preci- sion toolholder into a highly versatile device for narrow spaces independ- ent from the spindle interface. According to the company, the pre- cise run-out, excellent vibration dampening and the internal coolant supply ensure outstanding machin- ing results and a long tool life. Because of the radial clamping

actuation, tools can even be changed in the machine. The maximum torque of the hydraulically clamped extension ensures that tools are held securely for all drilling, reaming and finish milling operations. TENDO-SVL extensions are

available in both inch (English) and metric versions.
