GPD Global: Dispense Pump Improves LED Yields
Grand Junction, CO —GPD Global, a manufacturer of precision fluid dis- pensing systems for high-volume 24/7, low-volume/high-mix and R&D production, has designed its PCD4H
configured with a syringe mixer to keep the encapsulant homogeneous over its entire pot life. The adjustable speed of the syringe mixer and a rotating element designed to create turbulence ensures encapsulant homogeneity. Repeatability of volu- metric dispense is not affected by varying levels of fluid in the syringe or the change in viscosity over the pot life. In addition, repeated calibra- tion is not required during the pot life to maintain volumetric consisten-
cy. The unit is a continuously volu- metric dispense pump that is not lim- ited to a certain volume and does not require trial-and-error setup to reach a desired volume. One pump is able to dispense a full range of device sizes without any changeover. Air-free syringe changeover is
made possible with ergonomically placed bleed ports, eliminating the need to purge to remove trapped air bubbles. Also, using GPD S Type Taper Tips will improve dispense
performance by minimizing fluid pressure at the dispense tip and enhancing fluid flow. No drip or drool is present after the dispense process. The PCD4H has high flow rates and outstanding repeatability to improve
yields for LED manufacturers. Contact: GPD Global, 611 Hollingsworth Street, Grand Junction, CO 81505 % 800-742-5473 or 970-245-0408 fax: 970-245-9674 E-mail:

Conformal coating process. The conformal coating system,
made by PVA, combines a 650 selec- tive coating dispensing unit with an IR2000 infrared heat curing chamber to enable automated application of polyurethane and acrylic chemistries which are then automatically con- veyed into an accelerated curing oven. Cycle times have been reduced from five days down to one day. The system is capable of supporting fine pitch applications with precise con- trol, including selective or full cover-
age with no over-spray. Contact: Qual-Pro Corporation,
