Leine & Linde Compact Rotary Encoders from Heidenhain

Schaumburg, IL — Newly introduced by Heidenhain is Leine and Linde’s introduction of the 700 Series of encoders to meet the need for a thin and robust rotary encoder for tight spaces. The new encoders have a thin design and a large hollow shaft of up to 25.4mm, allowing these encoders to often be mounted directly on a motor’s shaft without an intermedi- ate adapter for shaft reduction. This direct mount contributes to minimiz- ing the overall build length on a motor, and at the same time facili- tates mounting. The 700 series rotary encoders are described as compact and robust. Despite their

Haydon Kerk Offers Size 17 Actuator

Replacement

Waterbury, CT — Haydon Kerk Motion Solutions has released a new version of the popular 36mm G4 lin- ear actuator. This configuration includes a special adapter plate that allows the smaller 36mm OD unit to replace existing size 17 hybrid step- per motor linear actuators.

Replacement actuators. The new linear actuator’s per-

formance not only exceeds the per- formance of comparable size can stack actuators, but also meets the performance of the larger hybrid size 17 single stack actuators. The 36mm unit with the integrated size 17 adapter plate easily replaces existing hybrid units by using the same bolt pattern and pilot surface. As long as the higher step reso-

lution of the hybrid style actuators is not required for the application, the 36mm can-stack with the size 17 adapter plate provides the perform- ance and life of the more expensive size 17 units. Force output range of the G4 36mm can stack is from 70N to 260N (16-lb. to 58-lb.). Output res- olution ranges from 0.013 to 0.102mm (0.0005 to 0.004-in.) per step command. The G4 linear actua- tor architecture uses the latest tech- nologies to extend reliability and meet higher performance require- ments. The design utilizes optimized teeth geometry along with high-ener- gy neodymium magnets that result in a higher continuous force output in a small package -- 20 percent high er output force across the entire speed range, compared with other

designs of similar size. Contact: Haydon Kerk, 1500

compactness, these encoders are designed for tough environments where Leine and Linde prod- ucts are typically used. Mechanically, they have a

dual set of heavy-duty bear- ings and a well-encapsulated enclosure. Electronically, they are built for reliability in tough environments where they are subjected to vibration and elec- trical disturbances. In order to provide an

encoder solution optimized for any application, the company offers a wide range of electrical interfaces to choose from such as TTL, 1Vpp, HC HTL, HTL and RS-422, each adapted to

different frequencies, temperatures and cable lengths. On the mechani-

cal side, the company offers a multi- tude of different shaft variations that cover the market’s standards for both inch- and millimeter-based dimen- sions.

The 700 series complements the

company’s previous assortment of encoders for drives. The 500 series covers the industry’s standard options for 58mm diam. encoders, while the 800 series is larger and especially adapted for heavy duty

applications. Contact: Heidenhain Corp.,
