Park Center Preschool programs align with the Illinois Early Learning Standards. At the same time we use our philosophy of “learning through play” to fulfill a balanced and progressive curriculum. Park Center Preschool classes feature:

Preschool Class Descriptions


The following classes require a Preschool Registration Packet. See registration procedures on pg. 56. No online registration permitted.


2 Year olds —


Age: 2 yrs. by 9/1/12 (toilet-trained is optional) The developmental two year old will experience instructional guidance with class routines, while expanding their social awareness along with appropriate behaviors. Parents/nannies attend class with the child for approximately the first 3 weeks. By the transition deadline, if a child is having significant separation dif- ficulties, inability to stay on task and transition, or is unable to behave in a safe and non-disruptive way, we will suggest enrollment in an Adult-Child class.


Soon 2B3 year olds —


Age: Turning 3 between 9/1/12-1/31/13. In process of toilet training -- must be achieved by 1/1/13. These children “step up” into a more structured environment. The 2’s curriculum is expanded upon in a more challenging way.


3 Year Olds — Age: 3 yrs. by 9/1/12 and toilet-trained (Pull Ups are not an option.) Our expanded curriculum highlights the social and emotional development of the child along with the physical and intellectual development of a 3 year old. The 3’s will follow specific goals and readiness skills preparing them for the Pre-K 4’s program.


Pre-K 4’s — Age: 4 yrs. by 9/1/12 The 4’s curriculum has been developed to meet the specific skills needed in preparing a child for kindergarten. Our program is challenging and ever- expanding. It includes readiness in reading, literature, writing, math, science, art, music, listening/speaking, gross/fine motor skills, social and emotional readiness. The 4’s also follow the “Handwriting Without Tears” curriculum.
