Lee Tauck celebrated her 80th birthday in 2011, with a family gathering that included a special birthday celebration. Lee is a proud matriarch, mother to five children and 17 grandchildren; a few of her granddaughters are in the photo below, resplendent in appropriate “80” headbands to mark the special occasion...
Lee is an avid traveler, taking up to six Tauck trips annually to destinations near and far. Over the past year, she took five tours; she co-hosted Tauck’s Roman Holiday event in Rome (above photo, with daughter Robin Tauck) as well as the Tauck / Ken Burns Jazz event in New Orleans. Lee is a superb host, meeting and speaking with as many guests as she can – we figure that on her travels she met over 700 Tauck guests last year – and participated in Tauck’s volunteer program in the Tetons. Next up, Lee co-hosts The Tauck Winter in Yellowstone Event in January of 2012.
A new varietal of Tulip was born and baptized aboard ms Treasures in Venlo, Holland, on August 11, 2011. The “Tauck Tulip,” a brand-new hybrid, is a beautiful double tulip, which means it has more than the normal six petals. It’s beautiful, but then again, we’re proud parents! Above, Dan Mahar, Robin Tauck and Peter Tauck with a photo of their new relative.

Travel with a Purpose Robin Tauck’s work in sustainable tourism will bring together over 100 travel industry leaders at Tourism Cares (
tourismcares.org) to launch “GO” (Global Outreach), assisting World Heritage Sites and local communities. In 2012, first-ever GO PERU unites U.S. tourism companies with Peru, offering educational forums, fellowships, and community planning. This new program will help communities directly benefit in sustainable ways, as travel booms in the region and there is a need to manage visitation while preserving respect for a centuries-old way of life. So it seemed appropriate to celebrate daughter Colleen’s 25th birthday by hiking the ancient Inca Trail for five days to Machu Picchu. Robin and Colleen pose in the photo above with the children of Willoq, an indigenous village, one of many who support some 2,500 visitors a day to Machu Picchu.
