SMALL SHIP CRUISING
The diversification of our landings and their histories was fascinating. Every landing was unique. The wildlife together with the beautiful and sometimes rustic scenery was overwhelming. I learned so much, especially abut icebergs. It is locked in my memory forever.

Destination Cruising at its Best...
“There’s no point in trying to compete with the scenery outside,” admits Le Boreal spokeswoman Phaola Philogene as she points out the ship’s neutral interior décor scheme. But hands down, this wonderfully stylish, sleek ship and her crew take the prize for keeping you comfortable while navigating the towering icebergs of Antarctica – and for adhering to a most impressive “green” mind-set in a pristine white world. Barely two years old, this 254-passenger, all-balcony vessel has already earned the international “Green Ship” label for environmental efficiency.
Most of us like to head south when the weather turns cold. Le Boreal takes it to an extreme by calling Antarctica home during the winter months, which is actually summertime in that part of the world. It’s still icy there but that’s what Tauck folks come to see... blue glacial cities on the move, populated by penguins and various sea birds, but little else. Unless you count the lumbering whales... and the seals, Olympic swimmers who keep a healthy lap or two away from these giants of the sea. Those of us who have experienced this remote corner of the Earth are riveted by what we see, feel... and learn about the profound environmental changes that may affect the ecosystem and wildlife that miraculously thrive here.
