Try out all the different traditional dishes during your visit and experience a unique multi-cultural cuisine.
Did you know?
Suriname made a vital contribution towards Allied victory in the Second World War because it supplied the bauxite from which aluminum was made to construct aircrafts.
Every visitor is charmed by the unique natural and cultural experience Suriname has to offer. Feel welcomed and guided by very hospitable and friendly people who love to show you a glimpse of the country’s daily life. Enjoy strolling around downtown Paramaribo and visit the local market, while sipping from a cold coconut. Explore the districts and watch local artisans create beautiful art and craft, visit old plantations or search for giant sea-turtles.
It soon becomes very clear that Suriname is a cultural melting pot of many different ethnic and religious groups living peacefully together. Suriname is a safe destination and also a paradise for eco- tourists. More than 700 bird species can be spotted in the rainforest where different sport fishing records have been set,
deep in the rainforest. When dusk sets in, one can relax in a hammock or come to rest in one of the many luxury resorts surrounded by trees. A forest symphony completes the scene.
Back in town, visitors can literally shop ‘til they drop, or enjoy one of the very fine typical, traditional culinary dishes. An old saying states that once you’re hooked, you will sure come back! And remember, Suriname might be part of the Caribbean but it’s situated on the South American mainland.
