DESTINATIONS Nevis
www.nevisisland.com
Nevis is one of the few remaining unspoilt places on earth. It boasts natural vegetation that is unparallel. The accommodation sector ranges from small, intimate family run guest houses to a five star property, the Four Seasons Resort, the largest on the island. Among these establishments are the unique “Plantation Inns” for which Nevis is most famous.
Built on sites of the island’s old Sugar Plantations, these properties continue the themes and concept of the Plantation estates, with great houses and cottages scattered around the estate. The grounds of these inns are beautifully landscaped and most are located on the slopes of Nevis Peak amidst lush greenery. But whatever your preference, be it sinking in a hammock or a lounge chair at the pool, or on the palm- fringed beaches that circle the island, or perhaps sipping a rum punch at one of the beach bars or revelling in the local “taste of the island”, there is a wide variety of activities to choose from and others can sample an endless selection of land and sea activities such as golfing, diving, snorkelling or mountain biking.
Caribbean Challenge Try your hand at archaeology, or explore the ruins of old sugar plantations.

Nevis is the birthplace, and was home for nine years of Alexander Hamilton, George Washington’s aide and one of the architects of the American constitution.
Hidden gem
Nevis is small in size but bursting at the seams with history and legends. There are spas that offer both traditional and holistic treatments. Those who know about Nevis tell others but everyone seems to think that they are the only ones that really know all there is to know about the Island.
