Welcome to Curaçao, the island where you will feel at home. Many guests are already familiar with the island’s rich cultural heritage and characteristic pastel-coloured buildings with step-gabled façades. Willemstad’s tourist attractions are the Handelskade, the ever-bustling floating market and the old pontoon bridge (the swinging lady).

Curaçao is also the island of pearl-white beaches and azure-blue bays, enjoying a tropical climate with unique flora and fauna. Come and discover for yourself why Willemstad is a Unesco World Heritage Site. And when the sun goes down, Curaçao is renowned for its fantastic nightlife.

Caribbean Challenge

Visit as many beaches as you can during your stay on the island. Let us know how many there are!

Hidden gem

Spend at least one evening – Friday is the best – enjoying ‘happy hour’ which takes place all over the island. But one of the best places to enjoy it is at Mambo Beach Wet & Wild with snacks on the house, between 6 and 7pm.

The island was discovered in 1499 by Alonso de Ojeda, a lieutenant of Columbus. The local inhabitants were Indians of enormous stature which is why the Spaniards referred to the island as ‘Isla de los Gigantes’ (Island of the Giants). The island remained Spanish until it was conquered in 1634 by the Dutch. From the end of the 17th until the beginning of the 19th century, the island underwent a trading of places between the English and Dutch. In 1815 the Netherlands regained control.

This Dutch island is one of the most prosperous in the Caribbean. Curaçao welcomes you, enjoy your stay!
