Express equal joint venture AeroLogic is deploying its B777 freighters on routes between Leipzig/Halle airport and China. For allweekday operations DHL is responsible for the flightswith Lufthansa co-loading shipments. During theweekend period Lufthansa Cargo takes over command using the aircraft within the cargo carrier’s own global network. According to the 2009-10winter schedule, eight roundtrips between Germany and Chinawere being conducted. AeroLogic’s fleet currently comprises four leased B777Fs and up to year’s end fourmore B777 freighters are expected to be delivered. The next Chinese city to be servedwill be Shanghai, revealedmanaging director UlfWeber.

He further stated that his airline has to circumvent


Russian airspace on routes between Germany and China. Although AeroLogic had applied for overflight rights from Moscowmonths ago there is still no result. “Butwe are confidentwewill be given the traffic rights shortly by the Russian authorities,”Weber said. Until then, his aircraft have to travel via Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan en route to and fromChina.
