he depression in global air freight transportation that has lasted roughly 18months seems to be over – at least on the routes between China and Germany and vice versa. The fact is that the Chinesemarket has bounced back strongly,with a
recovery beginning last autumn that has broughtwith it soaring tonnages and encouraging rate figures. According to official statistics recently presented by the Beijing government, Chinese industry posted a remarkable growth rate of 10.7 percent during the fourth quarter of 2009, brushing awaymany of the shadows left by the recent economic downturn. China,without doubt, is strengthening its role as
theworld’s leadingmanufacturing platform. This is confirmed byMa Jiantang, head of the country’s national statistics office. He predicts that a double-digit increase in production
of between 10 and 12 percentwill be seen in China throughout the current year. With exports flying high again and rates
