LYCORED

Beauty from within with natural, plant-based

carotenoids Speaker Christiane Lippert

B

eauty from within is a really good opportunity to stretch between skin care and topical brands into a holistic skin

care opportunity. Lycored has been around as a company for 27 years and has been in the skin and beauty from within space for 25 years. The company specialises in

carotenoids, the colourful nutrients that come from fruits and vegetables with the following focusing mostly on the humble tomato, which is one of the key ingredients, or key sources of Lycored’s ingredients for beautology.

Around 25 years ago, one of the first skin focused supplements was launched in France, containing Lycored’s lycopene, Lycored Lycopene. It focuses on the preparation of the skin for the sun. Lycored is actually the provider of two proprietary breeds of tomato: one red and one golden (or yellow) tomato, from which we take the phytonutrients that become the beauty from within ingredients, supporting both beauty and wellness.

Most of the company’s products up until now have also focused on other health areas, not just beauty, including prostate health, female health and heart health.

2003 is the year in which Lycored’s first proprietary clinical trials focused on skin were published. Since then, it has had at least ten clinical trials, specifically on ingredients focused on beautology.

The company has over 100 patents focused on formulation and delivery technologies, ie, the forms that the ingredients come in to put them in dietary supplements.

One additional point to mention is

that Lycored also works with a lot of contract manufacturers with its ingredients.

So, for those who might be in the topical space – and don’t have experience working with those formats – Lycored can put clients in touch with contract manufacturers who are familiar with our ingredients, or have already made products with our ingredients.

THE BENEFITS OF BEAUTOLOGY The synergy between ingestible and topical is a really good opportunity. Firstly, because one of the challenges

that faces the topical ingredients space is getting to the innermost layer of the skin. When you have beauty from within, you’re working from the innermost layer out, so you’re getting the best of both worlds. What’s an additional benefit is the fact that when you have beauty from within, you’re using Mother Nature to get to your blood, to your plasma and the adipose tissue.

On top of that is a 24/7 working model. And as well as that, you actually have a full body effect. Another key point is that the depletion from topical is much faster than from ingested. So again, this fits into the whole approach of thinking of the ‘meeting in the middle’.

A key point is that these ingredients are free from any skin irritants and also very inclusive to skin, gender and age: it works for everybody.

Lycored’s Christiane Lippert educated attendees on the benefits of beauty from within

LYCORED’S PORTFOLIO Lycored has a very holistic approach to the production of its products. The company has its proprietary breeds of tomato, both golden and red, and very specific sustainable practices, for example drip irrigation. The tomatoes are washed, the skins removed and the seeds removed also, to be repurposed. It all started 27 years ago with a single carotenoid called lycopene. But Lycored moved on from the point of how important lycopene was to realising it is not just the lycopene, the single molecule itself, it is actually the synergy
