WERNICK POWERS AHEAD
Following an investment of £10m, the Wernick Group is expanding into generator and temporary power equipment hire with the launch of a new division, Wernick Power Solutions Ltd. The machine additions include over 1,600 generators from
6kVA to 500kVA, including 225 units following a £3m deal with JCB. At the end of January, the company also acquired the specialist hirer, Power-Rite, which increased the fleet size to approximately 2,000. The new company will focus on serving Wernick Hire’s existing
construction related customer base, enabling portable accommodation and temporary power equipment to be provided from a single source.
Following the Power-Rite acquisition, the operation currently employs
30 people. There are plans to increase this to more than 70, operating out of six regional locations by the end of 2021.
JCB Finance celebrates 50 years
JCB Finance is marking 50 years in business with a pledge to raise £50,000 for children’s charity, the NSPCC through a series of fundraising activities throughout 2020. To kick-start its campaign, it is donating a JCB 8008 micro
excavator to be auctioned online, with all proceeds going to the charity. Bids can be placed at

A-Plant rebrands as Sunbelt Rentals
A-Plant will rebrand as Sunbelt Rentals from 1 May. This will bring all A-Plant’s brands under one banner and aligns it with the other operating businesses of Ashtead Group plc, which trade under the Sunbelt Rentals brand in the United States and Canada. Brandon Hire Station opts for Pop Up
Brandon Hire Station, which is part of Vp, has chosen Pop Up products as its single- source supplier of aluminium towers, specifically the manufacturer’s Eiger 500 system. The deal was announced on Pop-Up’s stand at the Executive Hire Show. Brandon Tool Hire was acquired by Vp in late 2017 and eventually merged with
Hire Station, which already had the Eiger 500 product in its fleet. Now, having appraised various systems, Brandon Hire Station says it has decided to focus on this tower system as it maintains its on-going growth.
